Nintendogs

I'm going to be serious for a second. I made an interesting observation yesterday when I was at the family farm. One of my little cousins was playing this ridiculous game (Nintendogs) on the Nintendo DS, when my grandma's dog (a friendly yellow lab) came up to see her and see what was going on. But she was so absorbed in feeding, grooming, and training her electronic pets, that she pushed the real dog away.

What does this mean for humanity? I am fairly certain that it means that real pets, living, flesh-and-blood animals are obsolete and really should only be used for slave labor, since these electronic pets are so much more interesting. I mean, really, how can our family dogs compare to the sheer interactivity and reliable behavior of a pet based on a computer algorithm? They can't.

Dogs make into a mean sausage in the winter. Pets will always have a place in the Great Civilization.
Cheers Dr. Kuha!

ultimately our society will be ReCivilized and the technophages and other electron-lackeys will be put to the hot sword.

Zombi, aren't you just being a little pessimistic here?

I keep having to push my cat off my keyboard as I type this. What a pain in the ass always getting in front of my monitor and keyboard and just staring at me. How creepy is that?

What a curious life the ghosts of electronic pets will have. Bending in haunted semi-conductors. Leaning out for love in the blue glow of a cracked PSP. Baying through tinny speakers, torn by careless, neglectfull, adolecents. Will just one more reason, dogs will never be loved by my GOD.

One of my other cousins cried when my dad tried to name his Nintendog "Killer" instead of "Mack."

All I'm saying is that electronic pets are clearly going to supplant our cuddly furry friends. And soon enough, they won't even be needed as slave labor, when we have robotic pets that fill any void left behind by thier absence.

Well, even though I hate to see that happening to man's best friend, in a sense, the same thing has happened to human interaction as well. This is noticeable in "The Sims" and chat rooms...why talk to your neighbor when you can talk to a "hot naked chick"?

Adam, that hot nekkid chick you talk to in the chatrooms, is most likely a middle aged man with a bald spot. However, that does not necessarily have to ruin the fantasy. Good luck in all your travels.

That's exactly my point :)
